Overview

Summary

Who we are

CueSuite Mobile is an independent iOS companion application for CueSuite, designed for wireless remote control of live sound cue playback. It is developed and maintained by a small independent team.

This Privacy Policy explains what information CueSuite Mobile accesses, how that information is used, and your rights regarding it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

Our core commitment

CueSuite Mobile is a remote control app. It does not play audio, manage files, or maintain a database of your content. Its sole function is to send commands to and receive playback state from CueSuite on your iPad, entirely over your private local network or a direct Bluetooth connection.

Nothing you do in CueSuite Mobile is transmitted to the developer, to any analytics provider, or to any server on the internet.

Data We Collect

Data

What the app stores locally

CueSuite Mobile saves only one piece of data to your device's local storage:

  • The last IP address you entered for manual Wi-Fi connection, stored in UserDefaults so you don't have to retype it each time.

This data never leaves your device and is not shared with anyone.

What we do not collect

CueSuite Mobile does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any identifying information
  • Your location
  • Usage analytics or crash reports sent to the developer
  • The contents of your audio files (audio never passes through the iPhone)
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Any data whatsoever to external servers operated by the developer

Deleting your data

To remove all CueSuite Mobile data from your device, delete the app from your iPhone. iOS will remove the single stored IP address preference when the app is uninstalled.

How Networking Works

Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
ℹ️ All communication between CueSuite Mobile and CueSuite on iPad is peer-to-peer between your own devices. No data passes through any server on the internet.

Wi-Fi connection (TCP/Bonjour)

When connecting over Wi-Fi, CueSuite Mobile establishes a direct TCP connection to CueSuite on your iPad over your local network on port 8765. To discover iPads automatically, the app uses Bonjour (mDNS) — a standard Apple zero-configuration networking protocol that broadcasts service advertisements within your local network only. No Bonjour data leaves your local network.

The app also probes resolved Bonjour endpoints with brief TCP connections to determine the iPad's IP address. These connections are made only to devices on your local network and are cancelled immediately after the address is resolved.

Bluetooth LE connection

When connecting over Bluetooth, CueSuite Mobile scans for Bluetooth LE peripherals advertising the CueSuite service identifier, then establishes a direct Bluetooth connection to your iPad. No internet connection is used. Bluetooth communication is entirely peer-to-peer between your two devices.

What is transmitted over the connection

The only data exchanged between your iPhone and iPad is:

  • Transport commands you send: play, pause, resume, stop, fade out, jump to marker
  • Playback state received from the iPad: current cue title, progress, elapsed/remaining time, active marker name, next cue title, cue list, and marker list
  • An optional password (typed by you) sent once during authentication — transmitted only between your two devices

Audio data is never transmitted. Your audio files remain entirely on the iPad.

Password handling

If the iPad has a remote-access password configured, CueSuite Mobile prompts you to enter it. This password is sent once over the local connection to authenticate the session. It is not stored on the iPhone, not logged, and not transmitted to any third party. Once the session ends, the password is discarded from memory.

Device Permissions

Permissions
ℹ️ CueSuite Mobile requests only the permissions required to connect to your iPad. You can review and revoke any permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings app.

Local Network access

CueSuite Mobile requests Local Network access to discover CueSuite iPads via Bonjour and to establish TCP connections on your local Wi-Fi network. This permission is used solely for connecting to your iPad. The app does not access any other device on your network and makes no outbound connections to the internet.

Bluetooth

CueSuite Mobile requests Bluetooth access to scan for and connect to CueSuite on your iPad as a Bluetooth LE peripheral. Bluetooth is used solely as an alternative connection method to Wi-Fi. No Bluetooth data is sent to any third party.

Third-Party Services

Third Parties

Apple frameworks

CueSuite Mobile uses standard Apple system frameworks including Network (for Wi-Fi TCP connections and Bonjour discovery) and CoreBluetooth (for Bluetooth LE connections). These frameworks are provided by Apple and are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

CueSuite Mobile does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or data brokers.

Apple App Store

CueSuite Mobile is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information about your app download in accordance with their own privacy practices. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

Children's Privacy

Children

Under 13

CueSuite Mobile does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no personal data from any user, it presents no particular risk to younger users. However, the app is not specifically directed at children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app in a manner not described here, please contact us at the address below.
